Kyle McKinnon

Kyle McKinnon, Executive Producer

With more than 20 years of experience in journalistic communications — including television, radio, print, new media productions, consulting and training — Kyle McKinnon was, at various times, an editor, senior producer and director of National Public Radio’s Day to Day, Morning Edition, The Tavis Smiley Show, News & Notes, Talk of the Nation and Tell Me More. In those capacities, he produced, wrote and edited news and feature segments, special series and programs.

In addition, McKinnon has worked as managing editor of Public Radio International’s To the Point and KCRW’s Which Way, L.A.? He’s also been a videographer, reporter and anchor for WISC-TV in Madison, Wisconsin and a multi-media journalist for Tribune New Media Development in Chicago.

An avid traveler, McKinnon has traveled and worked his way through more than 40 countries with extended time in southern and eastern Africa. In addition, he lived and worked as a Fellow in Bonn and Berlin, Germany. He reported and edited news segments for audiences in Europe, Africa and Asia. McKinnon has multi-language skills and media production experience in Spanish, French and German.

McKinnon has received numerous awards and recognition for his work, including best national and international news reporting, best sports news reporting, best public affairs program, best entertainment reporting and best national news programming from the Los Angeles Press Club. He has also received awards from the Associated Press and Northwest Broadcasters Association.

McKinnon received a Bachelor of Arts and journalism degree with an emphasis in political science and environmental studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He lives in Washington, D.C.


Devin Robins

Devin Robins, Producer

Devin Robins is an award-winning journalist who began her career at National Public Radio in 1997. During her tenure at NPR, she worked for several national radio shows including Talk of the Nation, The Tavis Smiley Show, and News & Notes. Over the years, her work has included producing more than 100 hours of NPR’s live news coverage of the September 11th terrorist attacks, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath.

She’s also produced several NPR specials on subjects ranging from criminal justice to mental health, addiction, hip hop and an in-depth look at how race is lived and perceived in American society. For the past three years, Robins produced NPR’s long-running “Africa Update” segment, which chronicles the affairs of the continent from a political, cultural and economic standpoint.

Devin graduated from San Diego State University and lives in Southern California with her husband.
