When it comes to race, are we really different? A national exhibition now in Los Angeles tackles this difficult question, and comes up with some interesting answers. The “Understanding Race” exhibition was created by the American Anthropological Association, and investigates the meaning of race through the prisms of history, science and life experiences.
Tony Cox talks with co-founders Dr. Yolanda Moses — professor of anthropology and vice provost for diversity and conflict resolution at the University of California, Riverside — and Dr. Alan Goodman, professor of biological anthropology and dean of faculty at Hampshire College. Both are past presidents of the American Anthropological Association. For more on the exhibit, go to UnderstandingRace.org.
Plus, the holidays means it’s also time for Hollywood’s award season. The African American Film Critics Association got a jump on the Oscars and Golden Globes with its own ceremony and a look back on the best films and actors of 2009.
