On today’s pre-Thanksgiving edition of UpFront, Tony Cox convenes a reporters’ roundtable with Sylvester Monroe in Chicago; Sam Fulwood in Washington, D.C.; and Mary Curtis in Charlotte, N.C. They weigh in on everything from President Obama’s expected decision on a military strategy in Afghanistan to Oprah’s announced talk show departure.
Plus, Tony Cox talks with Somali journalist Mustafa Haji Abdinur — one of the few independent reporters still working in war-torn Mogadishu. Abdinur — who is editor-in-chief of Somalia’s independent Radio Simba — is a recipient of the 2009 Committee to Protect Journalists’ (CPJ) International Press Freedom Award. They are joined by Tom Rhodes of the Committee to Protect Journalists.
