Roundtable: Health Care Heats Up Senate

The mammography debate — from a science-based recommendation issued earlier this week — has turned into a political issue. So, it’s part of our Friday political discussion today. Meanwhile, Senate Democrats debuted their long-awaited health care overhaul package and are praying they can pull the moderates toward the 60-vote threshold.

Tony Cox talks with Ron Christie — head of Christie Strategies and a former aide to President George W. Bush — and Michael Fauntroy, assistant professor at the George Mason School of Public Policy.

We talk a little sports today, too. It’s the halfway mark of the football season and a time to lay odds on college bowl games and who’s going to survive the NFL season come Christmas. Joining in the conversation are Los Angeles Times sports columnist Kurt Streeter and Kevin Figgers of AM 570 KLAC Radio.
