Since 1973 — when Maynard Jackson was first elected Mayor of Atlanta — the city has elected black mayor at every turn. Next week, all indications suggest that is going to change. Just as Barack Obama was able to get to the White House, Atlanta’s Mary Norwood may surpass three black candidates vying for the mayor’s office.
Tony Cox talks to a newspaper icon in Atlanta — Cynthia Tucker of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, who is now part of the Washington press corps.
Also on the show: the second day view of the Michael Jackson film, This Is It. USA Today’s Kelley Carter joins Tony Cox to talk about response to the film and the remarkable movie out next week called Precious.
